What is Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball?

Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball is a professional women's league unlike any other: no owners, no fixed teams, and a season where every player competes for an individual championship. This guide explains the format in plain language — and shows you where to follow along.

What is Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball?

Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball is a professional women's 5-on-5 league with a twist: there are no fixed teams or owners. Instead, 44 elite athletes compete in a compact season, and every player also races for an individual championship on a points leaderboard.

How does the AU scoring format work?

Players earn AU points three ways: their team winning a game, their team winning individual quarters, and their own on-court performance. The player with the most points at the end of the season is the individual champion — so every possession matters, even in a blowout.

Why do the teams change every week?

Each week, the top players on the leaderboard become captains and draft brand-new rosters. That means teammates one week can be opponents the next, and every week has its own storylines.

Where and when does the league play?

The 2026 season ran for four weeks at Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. The league has announced it is on hiatus for 2027 — AU Hoops keeps the full 2026 season archive live so you can relive every game.

How can I watch or follow AU Pro Basketball?

Game broadcasts and streams are announced on the league's official channels. Here on AU Hoops you can follow final scores, the individual leaderboard, athlete profiles and season stories — see the Watch page and News section.
